Photos from the St. Georges Concert - September 2005

 

September 6th is the date of the We Love Bermuda Concert. Featuring the entertainers from the Crown and The Majesty. There will be a special finale at 5pm which will feature Marcus' Memorial Sculpture for the World Trade Center being taken in a parade from Town Square to the Crown at Penno's Wharf. Led by david Frith the Town Crier and St Georges Mayor E. Michael Jones there will be an honor guard from the St. George's Fire Brigade and the Police Force.

How it all began...

This is the Third Annual "Cruise Ships" Concert the first being in 2003, when the crew of the Norwegian Majesty were grief stricken when they returned to Bermuda in September, and saw the devastation that Hurricane Fabian had caused to their beloved St George's.
They decided to show their love of the Town by "giving back" and that first Concert was a resounding success, raising $ 18.OOO which was distributed to the seriously damaged St George's Prep School and the families of the Cause­way victims. These efforts also encouraged Microsoft to donate $20.000 in computers to the school. Our Mayor and former Town Crier,  was instrumental in this and all ensuing events.

In September 2004 it was repeated,  to create awareness in St George's as a World Heritage Site.

This year it was decided to hold this event at the beginning of the season,  a "welcome back" to St George's for the many ship's crew who have come to view St George's as "home".

And another concert on September 6th 2005 which we called "We Love Bermuda".
